Well, it's day 48 now and our fast plants are still healthy and happy. They haven't gone to seed yet. Some are over a foot tall and are pushing out new shoots with flowers. The developing seed pods are from a half to 3/4" long. We have enjoyed growing them and have developed a healthy relationship with them. My students check on them daily just out of personal curiousity. They are anxious to try their growing tricks on the next batch. We may have a battle of the fertilizers soon.
That reminds me of a story Bess told about Harry Truman. As the tale goes, he looked out the window of the Oval Office and noticed the lawn color and remarked, "The lawn is turning yellow. I'll go tell the gardners to put some manure on it." When he left the room on this task, one of his daughters remarked to Bess, "Can't you get dad to say fertilizer rather than manure?" Bess replied, "It took me twenty years to get him to say manure!"
Does anybody have fast plants that have gone to fruition yet? I'm curious about when and how you go about the harvest.

Hi Jim,
Our Fast Plants from 2 years ago turned brown and died after about 45 days. The pods are easy to harvest - open them up and count the seeds. If you wait long enough the pods get very dry and brittle and the seeds will fall out. Did you pollinate the flowers?
