On October 2 at 5:30 P.M. EDT (6:30 A.M. JST October 3) Allen and Yamanoteminami Elementary Schools had their first videoconference using MeetingPlaza. After two test sessions during August and September, we were able to get good sound quality without the use of headsets. The video quality was not great, but was adequate. We had some difficulty sending picture files of our BUGS specimens, but were successful with some of the image files.
There were 17 Japanese third grade students and 11 American third grade students participating. We began with introductions followed by reports of the insects, spiders, and worms that we collected as part of our BUGS and Soil project. We concluded with Japanese language lessons (greetings, Japanese toys) and English lessons (colors).
Students enjoyed the conference and we look forward to the next conference in late October when Principal Imazawa from Yamanoteminami joins us at Allen School!
