Shotoku Gakuen Junior High School and Mountain Shadows Middle School held their January videoconference on Thursday, January 25. Due to an audio technical difficulty our time was brief.
However, the Shotoku students shared outstanding presentations on their Future Cities Competition victory, in which they placed second in all of Japan! The Mountain Shadows students were very impressed with the models and essay presentations, as well as the power point given by the winning team of three young gentlemen. A Bugs and Soil presentation was also made by the Shotoku students. Last summer we visited the collection site, a beautiful park located adjacent to the Tama Zoo. Shotoku students made detailed drawings of the insects they found, and instructed Mountain Shadows students in a Japanese language lesson using the insect names as vocabulary. We closed with waves and smiles, which always overcome any challenge!
