We had a wonderful time during our Washington D.C. visit. As many of you may remember all three of our team members traveled to D.C. Our flight was good and comfortable. Once we arrived at the Reagan International airport things began to speed up. One of our team member's bag was missing as were many other traveling participants. It was delivered about two hours later to our hotel and turned up fine.
By this time we had already gone out for dinner and to pick up a few items to make our stay easier. The next day we were off to the Japanese Information and Culture Center. As we entered we learned so much about Japan and our partners. We were thrilled to see the level of communication that took place once the translation had begun. We found that we held similar interests and that teaching is unique in Japan.
We then met our partners and began to try communicating with them. They were very nice gentlemen and seemed to enjoy the craft of teaching. We mutually agreed to share teaching practices as well as ideas. Later that day and throughout the week we toured Washington D.C. and attended several seminars that engaged us in the expectations of our involvement in the Master teacher program.
We had a wonderful time getting to know our partners. We met with them several times to discuss possibilities for implementing our project. Our favorite meetings of course were over lunch and dinner, where our partners freely shared many of their educational practices as well as customs. We learned about their school year, parental support, student reaction to teachers, what they do before dinner, what their favorite foods are and to eat with chopsticks. We had a great time learning both from and with our partners in Washington D.C.
