Upon departing Sendai Regional Conference, Yuichi, Naoko, and Danita set off for Naruko to enjoy a traditional Japanese Inn and Onsen! We wound up and down scenic mountain roads, and chatted about whatever came to mind as we continued our creative ways of communication. I don't have to speak Japanese to recognize that Yuichi and Naoko are both warm, caring; wonderful people.
We stopped at Yuichi's wife's parent's home along the way. Yuichi's father-in-law is a professional photographer. He has his studio on the front of his residence. Next stop was a nice store about 10 minutes from the inn where we browsed selections, and discussed different produce in the market.
Finally there! I was so excited. It was my first visit to an onsen. Naoko and I shared a room. I am so glad. She explained the room, tatami mats, futons, tea preparation, items to take to the bath etc. She is a great teacher. We bathed, donned our yukatas (hope that's spelled correctly), and it was off to dinner. We met Yuichi in the dining facility. The food was tremendous. Never fear, I have pictures.
After dinner, we returned to our rooms, and Naoko made tea. I finally learned how to make Japanese Tea. Our futons had been prepared for us. I found the futon comfy, but the pillow was not quite what my head is used to, so that took some getting used to.
