Today, we visited the Seto Inland Sea Folk History Museum. We were able to see references depicting the life of people and culture in the Seto Inland Sea District. The museum displayed fishery and tools of ancient times in Seto Inland Sea. Many items were displayed showing the religious faith of the the fishermen. During this period, many people who earned their living from the sea wished for the safety of their ships and goods. Funadama San is a god who protects ships, and Ebesusan and Odamasan are gods ensuring good hauls. Besides fishing boats, sailing vessels with auxiliary engines loaded with coal, salt, stone, and mandarin oranges played a vital role in the Seto Inland Sea.
