One of the Math lessons that I taught the fourth and five graders at Sakaide Elementary was multiplying greater numbers using the Lattice Method. First we warmed up with a game of multiplication facts by tossing a ball. I called out the fact while the student with the ball provided the correct answer. After warm up, we made our own bingo game boards and played multiplication bingo. The winner of the game received stickers that indicated great job and you did it! After getting the students actively involved, I modeled how to solve multiplication problems using the Lattice Method. During guided practice , I had some of the students to come to the board and work the problem out while explaining what they were doing. The students were eager to work the problems independently. As I walked around to monitor the students' performance, they were given a high five for solving the problem correctly and those who needed help were provided with assistance.
