They learned many things during their U.S. trip, some of which they are trying to incorporate into their regular teaching. The BUGS & Soil workshop in Washington provided training at an advanced level and gave them some hints as to what to do for their pair project. At their partner school, they observed different classrooms. Students were very positive towards their own studies and well disciplined, which impressed the teachers a lot. After observing classes at their partner school, they came away with the impression that American schools use their time very effectively. They were also inspired by the strong sense of responsibility in students. They felt school facilities were very comprehensive as well as being useful. They saw that teachers were using equipment very effectively in classes, a fact they felt was for the large part due to teachers being given specific roles that they can specialize in, which is unlike the Japanese school system. They thought specialization allows teachers to improve teaching methods, and that such an approach was one example of how American education pares itself down to and focuses on the essential. They tried to absorb many things with all of their senses during their trip. They hope this great experience can be used for their future educational activities.
