Our plant stand is built and has been restructured...had a significant bow in it since I bought lights that were toooooo heavy. But Dr. Cahoon, from the local university, fixed that. The lights are now shining brightly and evenly.
Two-three days ago the students planted our FastPlants, the normals and the mutants. We discussed the scientific method and watched a power point on mutant plants.
I'll be darned if they did not germinate already. The kids went wild this Monday morning. One girl called herself "a new mother."
Each child has a place in a cubic styrofoam planter, one for mutants and one for normals. They used hand held magnifiers to see the little plants and simply marveled that the tupperware self-watering system really did work. We had primed the plants with water from our little pipettes. The kids did all the planting, putting in the time-released fertilizer pellets, and dirt, etc.
We are hoping to do Bugs and Soil Wednesday with our collaborating music teacher, but the Rain Gods have sent rain each and every @#(*&^% Wednesday, for four weeks now. "This time for sure."
Oh, yes, an interesting item. Our "wonderful" tech guys..the same ones I had to growl at to get the firewalls taken down so we could video conference, reimaged my computer over the weekend. Despite earnest promises that "everything will be saved," this evening I have no pictures from Japan, not a single document, nothing. Interesting turnn of events, huh? Hmmm.....
