Annika,
Here are the directions Yuki gave me last year. I hope this will help.
>Danita Inquired: Tim and I tested yesterday. He said he could hear me now that I made some adjustments to my computer's microphone volume. The only problem yesterday was that I could hear myself back through my speakers.
Oikawa sensei answered: I experienced the quite same problem at last conference. But I have found the way to solve that problem. You have to check the panel of "Volume Control". I guess that the mute box of microphone on the "Volume Control" is blank. If that is so, you have to fill out (select) the mute box. If you do that, you won't hear your voice though your speakers. But we (partner) can hear your voice clearly.
Another important information of adjustments to your computer's microphone, Ii you want to volume up the level of your microphone during video conference, you need to check "Recording Control" on "Device of Sound & Audio" of "Control Panel". As I think you can find the check mark in "Select Box of microphone", would you try to up the level of microphone. You and I can hear your voice louder. You can enter to both adjustments from "Device of Sound & Audio" of "Control Panel". Although the names of the panel of computer which I mentioned above may be a little different between US and JP version, I think the way of adjustments are similar to yours.
