March 15. Heavy winds delayed our flight from Michigan to D.C. We arrived around 9 pm very tired of airports. My luggage would follow a few days later.
March 16. Got off to a good start. We met our japanese partners in person for the first time. This was great since the pictures our fax machine printed did not really give a clue as to who they were. Nakagawa-san and Yamaki-san are very nice. Their English is very good! Between my very broken Japanese, their abilities and the help of our genius 3's we communicate fairly well. We visited many of DC's historical sites and got detailed explainations from Dr. Jones of their significance. We then visited the various museums of the Smithsonian and finished the day with orientation about Japan. The day ended with a LARGE meal at Shula's steak house.
