Believe it or not, Sharai and I went to examine plant soil mixtures to make sure our mutant plant expreiment has as many variables fixed as possible. All the soil in Japan had volcanic ash. I was stumped until Rick-san mentioned that pet stores carry ask. Hmmm...why? He said chinchillas (sp?) use it to roll around in. So, we've solved the problem of having the right soil mixtures.

We are also using Space Shuttle Fast Plant seeds. Available in Japan and in the USA. We feel that the gamma rays and other stuff that bombarded the seeds ought to provide some interesting mutants.

I am working on a simplified power point for the Japanese kids so they will know a mutant is a natural adaptation, and not some alien-lookling plant from Little Shop of Horrors.

Should be a fun project.
