Yamanoteminami and Allen Elementary Schools had a successful January videoconference on the last day of the month. There were no technical difficulties with MeetingPlaza.
Allen students shared information about our favorite toys and our recently planted Fast Plants. Our English lesson was on names of sports.
Yamanoteminami students told us about winter in Sapporo, where the snow is piled so high students must walk in the road which is quite dangerous. Parent volunteers accompany students to school. Students learn to ski during their physical education classes after small hills of snow are formed on the school playground. We were then shown silhouettes on an overhead projector and we had to guess what objects were being projected. Some of them were quite difficult to identify depending on their orientation. We saw the following items: shoe, key, watch, and scissors. We then learned the name of the items in Japanese.
We meet again in two weeks for our February videoconference and on March 8 (in Japan) our final conference takes place.

p.s. The videoconference photo is actually of our Japanese language lessons with Morizuka-sensei and Hara-sensei, as I was so busy with the videoconference that I forgot to take photos.
