It is hard to believe that the trip is almost over. It has been an exciting and exhausting week but it is wonderful. This is our third year of the partnership so we are old friends. Monday began with a tour of the school and a welcome reception from the Dowell staff and community. Tuesday, Junko and Mizu went to visit with a group of student teachers from Kennesaw State Universitiy. They answered many questions about teaching in Japan. Wednesdayand Thursday, they spent the day visiting and teaching second, fourth and fifth grade classes about Japan and sharing a video of their students. The children were fascinated and learned many new things. Japan is part of the second grade curriculum. Today we are going to Campbell H.S. to visit with a Japanese language class. My partners have been very busy in the evening as well. Various members of the staff have taken them to dinner and to see the CNN center, MLK Memorial, and the Georgia Aquarium. There has been a lot of eating of different ethnic foods. Saturday, Mizu will be golfing with my husband while Junko and I go shopping. I will be sad to see them go but I know I will see them shortly when I return to Japan. I am going to attempt to attach pictures but if I am unsuccessful please forgive me. I will attach them in a separate posting.
