This day found 3rd grade students traveling to Denton Texas aboard our yellow school buses. It is about a 45 minute ride, and the teachers didn't anticipate the excitement (not to mention the noise level) of new 3rd graders aboard the buses! There are several areas the students visited: Outdoor Learning Area Aquatic Center and Archaeological Dig, Planetarium, Activity Center, and an outdoor area to find information about wildlife of North Texas. Ofcourse, the most vital portion for our project was the aquatic area where we practiced being entomologists. Insects were gathered from a waterfall area, a stream, a wetland, and a pond. The students returned to their classrooms to compare results, and ponder why different types and numbers of insects were found in the different water environments.
