Last evening we had a full house of parents and children for the Dec. 12th video conference. Basically, we shared the results of our aquatic studies. Kashiwagi showed us their pictures of paramecium and synedra. We drew large pictures of our paramecium, euglenae and amoebae. We used a hay infusion and gathered pond/swamp water also. We concluded that the cold weather caused us to find few bugs and plants.
The American children also shared about Christmas customs in America and the Japanese did also. Our children were surprised to think the Japanese knew about Santa. They had worried about how to present the concept. We talked about snowmen also.
A third grade at Kashiwagi did presentations on Mt. Fugi and books and other items. They were very cute and captivated the 4th graders' hearts. Best of all were the little first graders. They were very cute!
We ended with Japanese and American vocabulary and waved. We are growing fond of our classmates and recognize many faces.
This time the Yahoo messenger and Skype were perfect. No technical problems at all.
