Central Elementary School, AL LaShawnta Carnes
On January 16, 2007, we had our fourth Japanese Video Conference. The US and the Japanese students were excited and welcomed each other to a New Year! Each of the schools presented information about their country's customs and traditions regarding the New Year. Afterwards, we discussed information about our pair project, which is food and the economy. The US presented on peanuts and Japan presented information on wheat. The US shared information about the history of peanuts, peanut collages, and information about George Washington Carver, who is considered "The Father of Peanuts." We also shared one of our class activities that involved students sampling three different types of peanuts. The students compiled the information into a bar graph.
The US also shared pictures and information about Martin Luther King's National Holiday, which is celebrated on every third Monday of the year.

It was very nice to see your smiling face with your students.
