December was a short month for us. We were able to end our semester before winter break, which put the finals schedule before vacation too. We did work on our pair project and enjoyed a videoconference with Matsuyama too. I was also able to get another 5 yards of crushed rock donated for some of the landscaping and drainage issues that we face with the pair project. Students struggled to dig in wet weather. Aside from working in the rain, the water puddles up in the pond hole and makes digging difficult. We tried several methods of draining the pond and found the best success was by pumping. I have an ornamental pond and fountain by the front door of the classroom. I removed the pump that recycles water to the top of the "waterfall" and rigged it up with surgical tubing and we had a contraption that sucked that muddy water right out of our hole. Between rainstorms we were able to dig the very gooey mud out and roll it away with wheel barroes
