Despite a rare winter thunderstorm with lightning and pouring rain, we video conferenced successfully with Kashiwagi. We told them about Valentine's Day and how we in America celebrate Chinese New Year. They in turn told us a lot about Lake Hartuori, its history, its flora and fauna.
The highlight was to do the Chopstick Challenge. Again, Bellwood students won 2 out of 3 challenges. We salute our hard working Japanese students. After the children and parents left, Koji Kudo and Shirai Masanori and Mrs. Fukuoka discussed the upcoming visit of Keita Saito, a translator at Kushiro and a student of English. Keita will be my guest for a month and will teach and work at Bellwood. All in all, we are looking forward to a wonderful final conference on February 27th.
