The Kurshio men took Murfreesboro by storm! I finally got XOOP up and running. Talk about a late bloomer. But, I am blooming.
I find that Kujo-san and Masanori-san had posted 18 items abou tthe Murfreesboro visit. Let me add a few things.
First of all, they endeared themselves to the entire town. Aside from receiving the keys to the city, appearing on local TV, being introduced to the board and the entire House of Representatives in Nashville, and so on, we had a wonderful time.
If I had to choose a best time, it would have been at the home of a local administrator. Mrs. Harris had a fantastic home, filled with Japanese artifacts and art. She invited a cross section of our local culture and so the party began. Her husband, a gormet cook, hosted a meal of various Cajun foods. We had good food, good conversation, much too much good wine, and lots of entertaining conversation.
The guys got to see many types of American educational types...the local university, private and public schools, etc. My aim was to show them the diversity of our offerings. We also toured the MTSU Dyslexia Center and my own major professsor/mentor, Dr. James M. Hodgson, gave them a detailed tour. He explained America's position on educating students with various learning disabilties and difficulties.
All in all, we ate much too much good food, had much too much fun, played much too much, and learned not enough. The visit time was too short.
My husband, James, got to know these teachers, and felt better about his wife of 37 years traveling half way aorund the globe for 6 weeks. I know, also, that my experience in Kushiro will be one of self discovery and exploration.
