March 24. Today Nakagawa-san and Yamaki-san spent all day with my students. They answered many questions and taught each student how to write their name in katakana. The students were amazed and very happy by this! That night we had a special farewell dinner at a local restaurant with our school board and administration.

Good looking crew! You must've had a good time. What's the deal with the ice bear? I've seen several photos of that aquarium. It looks like a dome. The big white bear seems to be trolling for protein. The ones in the San Diego Zoo are green because algea grows inside their drinking straw style hair and bear shampoo can't touch it... We had some technical problems with the Japaneselessons last night, but I've had good luck using skype with Matsuyama. Amazing stuff, this technology ( when it works ). Hit enough golf balls and one of 'em is bound to go where you want it to... We had our big fundraiser for the Italian Exchange on Wednesday. I came away with a giant salami that will probably fit in the suitcase. I'm pondering other goodies to bring to Japan. Do you have any success stories along those lines? Cheers, Jim
