Our deceptively simple "bug collecting" has generated a multitude of trajectories each worthy of its own unit of study. For example: general biology as opposed to ecology, taxonomy, evolution, entonology...; Japanese language, Japanese culture because of our acknowledgement of language, the Kyoto Protocal, politics and history as related to environment, economic development vs. conservation, land use, environmental leadership (our Governor has just been appointed as the Secretary of the Interior) and that's not to mention the more ethereal. Believe me, the kids wanted all of it, and right now!
I can see reining them in, for better or worse, will be my biggest challenge as we move through the BUGS project.
