Central Elementary School (AL) Monday, June 19, 2006
Today, my administrator, technology coordinator, and I visited our partner's school in Sakaide. Upon arrival, we were greeted at the front entrance by the principal, Dr. Takai and assistant principal, Mr. Manabe. An orientation of the school's history was given by Dr. Takai. After orientation, we proceeded to the gym for a program. We were serenaded by the students at Sakaide Elementary School. The students were very happy to meet us. During the program , each of us addressed the faculty and student body and told them how excited we were to be there. Later that afternoon, we were transported to the Sakaide Board of Education where we met the superintendent. The superintendent was very inquisitive and had many questions about education in America, such as enrollment , class size, testing, and entry requirements. He was present a gift of appreciation by the Central Elementary team members. At the conclusion of the meeting we returned to the school. Sakaide staff members gave a warm reception party in our honor. All teachers introduced themselves to us and we were served refreshements.
