Last year I rode my old steel bicycle on the 100 mile loop and was the laughing stock of 6,000 riders. I've since upgraded to a 17lb carbon fiber Specialized (Roubex). Last Thursday I spent 12 hours back at UCSF as they poked around looking for an anurysm or other troublesome mass. We're all happy that nothing was found. Now I have a clean bill of health. I did have to lie still while my femoral artery got its act together (that's where they insert everything needed for the Fantastic Voyage. They told me to lay off exercise for 3 days, so I was back in the gym Monday morning. Carol and I will drive down to the gathering of team slo go/far go in Solvang to start our carbo loading pre ride routine.
